More prayer requests and updates

Dear Prayer Partners,

 

We had a great time in Seattle, Calgary, and Wendover.  We are now in Aurora, Colorado.  We are staying just blocks from the theatre where all the horror took place last Friday morning (we arrived Friday evening).  It certainly affected the services yesterday at church but we understand that the LORD is still in control. (Rom 8:28) Please pray for the city of Aurora as they recover from these deaths and so many who were wounded. Also pray for the church as they minister to the community and especially for souls to come to Christ, who is the only answer.

 

We received a call from our daughter Amanda on Saturday and Chuck, our son-in law,'s step mother's son was in the hospital here Denver in a comma.  Pastor Ken Urban joined us as we went to the hospital and prayed for 26 year old Michael Portman and ask that you would join us in continuing to pray for healing.  He was not breathing when brought to the hospital and there are many questions about recovery so PLEASE PRAY!

 

The good news is that Edward, our grandson who had open heart surgery at 7 weeks is home and doing well.  He was sent home in half the time they expected so we so appreciate your prayers and thank God for His answer. 

 

We are taking a break to get refreshed and then we will be back on deck in Los Angeles.

 

Please continue to pray for:

1)     Traveling Mercies.    

2)     The upcoming meetings.

3)      Finances (air fares have drastically increased)

4)      Health, Strength and Energy (refreshing)

5)      Family and friends as we see so many in need at this time.

6)      Wisdom in planning for the future

7)     That the LORD gives us His Favor

Prayer Partners,

 Hi Everyone,

 

I received the following letter from Rachel and Brad regarding Edward:

 

 Edward is doing very well 7 Days post operation.  He is now without tubes and wires with the exception of the blood pressure cuff and oxygen saturation monitor.  Those two are really only on him at different times during the day after they give him blood pressure medication to monitor his response for 2 hours.
 
Edward's condition to cause the surgery was 2 fold.  One his aortic valve was bicuspid (2 leaflets instead of 3) with stenosis (thick flesh of the leaflets)
 
The bicuspid itself was not necessarily the issue for surgery but the stenosis was restricting the bloods ability to flow through the valve.  Basically in the 5 weeks between echo's his left ventricle muscle was doing a huge workout and bulked up, but because it never got a break not only did it bulk up but became exhausted (weak) in the process.
 
Now on the other side of the surgery where they have repaired the valve and made it as best they could into a three leaflet valve, he is doing great.  However it will take time for the left ventricle to reduce back down to normal size and regain it's strength.  Post op they will have him on Blood pressure/blood thinning/fluid reduction medication for a few months to give the heart a chance to recover.  So we are praying that his heart will fully recover it's strength and come back down in size quickly.
 
One of the greatest concerns post op would be the volume of scar tissue that could occur, so we are praying and believing that this will not be an issue for him going forward.
 
Our primary cardiologist who saw us through the operation said that he has a 50%+ chance to not have further operations.  This is what we are believing for Edward that the Lord will be able to use the skills of this surgeon and heal Edward in a way that he will not need any further intervention. 
 
The doc has stated that he has progressed more quickly then they had expected. 
 
Additional prayer points for us would be that the Lord would give us wisdom at every turn through this to make the best decision for Edward going forward and that the speed of his recovery would be a testimony for the Lord.
 
 
Thanks so much for your prayers and support.  We have been so blessed by the Lord through this experience with the ever present peace of God.
 
We give all the Glory and Honour to the Lord for his mighty hand on us and continued protection!

 

Please continue to pray for us and the meetings that we have ahead as well as for Edward.

We have been having some very good meetings in the Northwest of the USA as well as last weekend in Calgary.  We will try to update you on our meetings etc. soon

update on Edward

Prayer Partners,

 

Thank you so much for the prayers. 

 

After a very long sucessful surgery Edward is in intensive care and will be their for 1-4 days and then several more weeks in the hospital.  Rachel & Brad had a very stressful time and are now faced with the recovery time etc.  The Dr. was quite pleased with the results of the surgery and the valve seems to functioning well.  How long they will keep him sedated comotose) until they turn the pumping of the blood back over to his heart depends on the stength of his heart.  When things become more clearly defined we will send a further update.  Again, thank you for your prayers and please continue to hold him and the family.

Prayer for Edward

Thank You Prayer Partners for your prayers and support. 

 

A couple of days ago I sent out an update and asked for prayer for our grandson Edward who is 7 weeks old.  My daughter Rachel in Melbourne, Australia just called and the doctors are planning to do open heart surgery on him in a few hours.  We continue to prayer for a miracle but if this surgery is to happen we pray that it will solve all the problems.  Please join us in prayer.
